Bruce Ingram Art Exhibit at Penn Center

Driven by passion

Penn Center’s York W. Bailey Museum is proud to announce a solo exhibition featuring painting and sculpture by the South Carolinian folk artist Bruce Ingram.

The exhibit begins July 1, 2026 and runs through November 30, 2026. This highly anticipated exhibition showcases Ingram’s unique mastery of visual storytelling through memory and found objects.

Bruce Ingram invites viewers into a deeply personal dialogue with artwork reflecting the griot (oral storytelling) tradition of his family. The artworks on display visually tell the stories Ingram has grown up with, and reflect generations of African-American history in rural South Carolina.

Ingram utilizes sustainably sourced wood and recycled objects, adding these elements of the past into his paintings and sculptures, evoking a powerful emotional response.
“Bruce Ingram’s body of work represents the importance of African-American oral histories by using creative and unexpected ways to honor and remember the past.”   Monique deLaTour, Curator of the Exhibit at the York W. Bailey Museum at Penn Center.
