Community Meeting to Focus on Gullah/Geechee Sacred Site Project

Community members are invited to gather at the St. Helena Branch Library on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 5:30 PM for the launch of the Gullah/Geechee Sacred Site Protection Project.

This initiative, led by Beaufort County in partnership with the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition, focuses on protecting Gullah/Geechee graveyards and cemeteries—sites that hold deep cultural, historical, and spiritual significance.

We encourage our community to stay informed and engaged in efforts that impact St. Helena Island’s cultural heritage and future. Your participation helps ensure that community voices remain at the center of decisions affecting our shared history and home.
